The way you've presented evaluation criteria in this essay is probably the most accessible and clearly-presented checklist I've yet seen.

Outstanding article, one that provides information useful in evaluating any sort of study.

Just a quick note--Jack Turban is American (born in Pittsburgh and now at U of California), and he's a gay psychiatrist. The two studies mentioned above have been heavily criticized from many viewpoints.

Thank you for articulating this so well. It's flabbergasting how few people can pick out good vs. bad research. And oddly, even in the academic community. How some of these things pass muster is beyond me.
